Roadrunners Ace Spanish Composition Competition

Four students in Dr. Nancy Mason's Spanish classes recently won awards  in the annual state-wide Spanish composition contest offered by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Students chose a topic and wrote a 200-word essay in Spanish without the aid of dictionaries or any electronic device. They were limited to an hour. Students were divided by those who had no previous Spanish experience (regular) and those who had already been exposed to or speak Spanish (other experience). Students were categorized as: superior, excellent, notable, and participant.

Pictured from left are Catherine Pickett, regular, excellent; Jessica Carrasco, other experience, superior; Mason; Araceli Acosta, other experience, superior and a cash award.  Not pictured is Marlen Hernandez-Garcia, other experience, excellent.
